Library Services

Describes the library's services for students, instructors, and community

Accessibility Services

Library Staff are here to help students with their research requests and questions about the library. If you need help, please ask!

Ways library staff can help you:

  • Use the "Place a Hold" feature on the library's catalog to request library materials. Staff will collect materials from the library shelves and have them waiting for you to view or check out.
  • Need help using the library's catalog or databases? Staff can talk with you on the phone, via email or Zoom, or in person to select and request library materials.
  • If you need a longer checkout period for loans, please talk with staff when checking out or renewing items.

If someone else will pick up library materials on your behalf, please talk with staff to set up a library card for that person.

Accessible Spaces

The Bay College Library is located in the HUB. Automatic doors to enter campus are at the Besse Theater entrance. The entire library is on one floor with carpet and cement coverings. Computer tables and study tables are at chair height; chairs around tables are easily moved to allow space for a wheelchair or other mobility device. Study rooms have lever-handle doors and study tables at chair height. Please ask staff for assistance if library resources are out of reach or furniture needs to be rearranged.

Accessibility Devices

The Bay College Library checks out accessibility technology to students on behalf of the Office of Accessibility. We loan Echo SmartPens and Livescribe notebooks, C-Pens, audio recorders, and personal wireless microphones/transmitters. To try or check out any of these devices, please contact Jessica Manier, Director of the Office of Accessibility. Jessica will match you with devices that work for you.

If you are on the Escanaba Campus: A library staff member will ask you to fill out an "OOA Technology Agreement" and check out a device to you. Please bring your Bay Student ID. Devices are loaned for one week; if the device works for you, please contact the library to renew the loan for the rest of the semester. If the device does not work for you, please return the device to the library and talk with Jessica to find another solution that is right for you.

If you are on the West Campus: A staff member from the Student Success Center will ask you to fill out an "OOA Technology Agreement" and check out a device to you. Please bring your Bay Student ID. Devices are loaned for one week; if the device works for you, please contact the library to renew the loan for the rest of the semester. If the device does not work for you, please return the device to the Student Success Center and talk with Jessica to find another solution that is right for you.
